What came first, Sanskrit or Tamil? This is a very relevant and unanswered question for the present. Unclear evidences suggests that tamil was the oldest laguage but supporting clear evidences are missing till date. Sanskrit literature tells about 4 yuga's namely satyayuga, tradayuga, dwaparayuga and kaliyuga. Satya yuga is described as the period in history where, the holy cow of dharma dwells with 4 legs, where the land witnesses dharmic and legitimate people only. Sbsequently in the following yuga's the holy cow loses one leg each say in tretayuga, the cow stands in 3 legs which is symbolic that 1/4th of people on land are adharmic. In dwapara yuga cow stands in 2 and at kaliyuga cow stands in a single leg. Violent masculinity is oppressive, exacerbates social conflict and is incompatible with democracy Three images of social violence have haunted me recently. The first was that of a minor girl in her teens, beaten mercilessly by a village elder. Her crime? She dared elope with her young lover. Second, after the acquittal of all six men accused of lynching Pehlu Khan, TV channels replayed the visuals in which a crowd of men participated gleefully in the atrocity. The third was of three Dalits being thrashed over allegations of theft. The barbarity of this violence can hardly escape anyone, but equally striking is the absence of any woman among the perpetrators. This theatre of cruelty has an all-male cast. Maldives Under Pressure?       Maldives is under the political strings now. President Abdulla Yameen declared a 15 day emergency in accordance with the internal political issues. Heavily armed troops stormed the countries top court and even arrested its former president Moumoon Abdul Gayoom at his home.The archipelago was plunged into chaos on Thursday when the supreme court called for the release of nine imprisoned opposition politicians, ruling that their trials were politically motivated and flawed. The government refused to implement the ruling, prompting a wave of protests in the capital, Malé, with angry clashes between police and demonstrators. Maldives is a small ring shaped atoll in the southern most part of Asia famous for its beaches lagoons coral reefs and long coastal areas.
